Dance Research
What role does dance play in the field of artistic research? To what extent can dance and dance-related questions enrich the theoretical and methodological understanding of science and research?
The Society for Dance Research (gtf) brings together and represents a wide variety of research approaches. It advocates an open concept of research and promotes a close connection between dance theory and practice.
At regular intervals, it addresses a specific research topic derived from the annual theme agreed upon in advance, which is initiated and supported by the research departments. The relevant findings and research in this regard are made accessible to members and the interested public through discourse and performance at symposia attended by various representatives – in this way, the gtf fosters encounters and exchange. The contributions from the symposium are documented and published in the Tanzforschung yearbook.
